Last weekend on Saturday July, 15th I attended the 3rd annual How You Ridin’ Car and Bike Show held at the Milwaukee Harley-Davidson on Silver Spring Rd. With Milwaukee being the home of Harley-Davidson, the culture and tradition of building and customizing one is a pretty natural thing. And, something I’ve had an appreciation for since I was a young kid.
Growing up just south of Milwaukee in Racine, I remember seeing the area in front of my neighbor’s house across the street being lined with custom built choppers and Harleys all summer long. No crotch rockets, no Yamahas no Kawasakis or other foreign bikes- strictly Harleys, custom choppers and Indians. I loved seeing those bikes out there. I might have hated all the noise they made back then but I definitely loved seeing all the custom paint, metal and chrome. Years later, I still have the same love for all the creative custom work these dedicated riders put in to their beloved bikes and have also grown a much greater appreciation and respect for all that noise they make.
So not only was this show lined with some really awesome custom bikes but there was also a nice variety of custom cars from lowriders to muscle cars to other tricked out street rides. I didn’t get to stick around for too long but thankfully the weather was great, the sun was shining, the people were friendly and the vibes were good which together made for a pretty good day of shooting.
